According to a CCTV financial report on the 27th, despite the continuous rise in prices of various chips against the backdrop of "lack of cores" last year, prices have continued to decline this year.

It is reported that most memory prices have fallen significantly at present. Taking the SSD product Samsung 980 with a capacity of 1TB and an M.2 interface as an example, according to a digital electronics mall in Hongkou District, Shanghai, the price of this product once rose to around 1400 yuan last year, but currently the mobile phone is less than 700 yuan.

It is understood that memory is mainly composed of controllers and memory chips, and the price of which is determined by the memory chip. In the first half of this year, downstream demand declined, but global storage chip shipments continued to grow. Several chip manufacturers, including Micron and SK Hynix, have issued warnings indicating that the oversupply of chips is worsening.

Zhang Yimin, an analyst at Caitong Securities, said that in the past two years, the inventory of storage chips has increased, and the phenomenon of oversupply has gradually become apparent. Therefore, the price decline has also been very drastic.

According to the latest research by TrendForce, a market research organization, NAND Flash is currently in a state of oversupply. From the second half of the year, buyers have focused on eliminating inventory and significantly reducing purchase volume. Sellers have issued broken prices to consolidate orders, resulting in a 30% to 35% decline in the price of wafers in the third quarter. However, various NAND Flash end products are still weak, resulting in a sharp increase in factory inventory, leading to a 15% to 20% decline in the price of NAND Flash in the fourth quarter.
